The goal of the project is to prepare municipalities in the Alpine region to recognise and exploit the opportunities of digitalisation. It involves not only technical innovations, but also a fresh involvement of the relevant participants in regional stakeholder groups. The SAB is the lead partner of the Smart Villages project as a whole and will additionally implement projects in five pilot communities in Upper Valais. The Lucerne West region is also taking part in the project and will be an independent test zone. Swiss participation will be supported within the framework of the new regional policy.
